Comment:

Adam asked me to make a mix of stuff that someone else introduced to me. Some of it is stuff I was bound to discover on my own (Nirvana/Public Enemy), given my age and geography, other stuff was certainly stuff I had missed somehow (Neil Young) or stuff that I had heard, but ignored (Bruce Springsteen/Elvis Costello). These were (the folks) who made me pay attention to these artists, the songs they first played me and (when) I first heard them. As you can see, the older I got the more I discovered stuff on my own, though I have friends like Summer who still keep me sharp in my old age. Thanks go out to all of these people, and not just because of these songs.

This is too cool! A timeline history of your musical development complete with bibliography - I so gotta steal this idea. Hope you don't mind. I mean it as an honor to you. I'm somewhat amazed that you had the memory to compile this - I can think of influences here and there, but mostly I struggle to remember where certain musicians/styles/songs came from in my past. Aside from that, the songs are so excellent across the board (well, okay, I'm not a big Radiohead or Ben Harper fan, but I get the idea there). I wish I'd discovered Johnny Cash at such a young age, or Springsteen. Took me a little longer. Man, though, this is neat (you even remember finding Neil Young at summer camp thanks to some kid, what nostalgia that must be..). Every mixer should be required to fill out something like this. Really, really great :)

agree with Mike Eternity, a very cool idea. makes me think of Diana (age 17) and of that girl singing along to the radio in the Wilson Junior High cafeteria (age 13) among other things. welcome to the site, Kester. looking forward to seeing what else you've got.

Very cool. Hang around here a while and you can continue the list with names from AOTM.
