Comment:
After being quite the Feelies fan in the late '80s/early '90s, I had kept their music on the back burner for the past 15 or so years. This week, I decided to re-explore their catalog and here is the result: my favorite 80 minutes from my favorite Maxwell's staple [yes, eat your heart out, Yo La Tengo ;-) ]. The band's hyper-kinetic, jerky rhythms and the Sterling-Lou (or is that Tom and Richard?) twin-guitar attack of Bill Million and Glenn Mercer can be quite the enveloping listen, and the fact that they wrote some top tunes didn't hurt, either.Feedback:
all great.
Good stuff hear.
Nice one Rob, where thje hell do you find the time to submit so many mixes.
Tom and Richard. Definitely Tom and Richard. Splendid Rob.
I have heard of The Feelies but would not know a Feelies song or am I mixed up with The Fabulous Poodles...dunno!
I Friggin' LOVE the Feelies. Bravo!!
I have to admit that I'm not sure I've ever heard a Feelies song in my life, a fact that I am not exactly proud of (and that I'll try my best to change at some point soon). I have little doubt that you did an excellent job here, though.
Great intro here Rob, they certainly had some top songs.
I miss the Feelies!
Massively cool - I love these guys and even though Crazy Rhythms occasionally gets to me for the frenetic drumming in the middle, I always go back to it (and them). Great picks and great flow by the looks of it too. Oh, and I agree with Curtis - Tom and Richard :)
One of my favorite bands ever, and their largely acoustic, Americana-ish sophomore album The Good Earth remains one of the finest productions and most-frequently-played albums in my home to this day. (Back-burnered for 15 years? Say it ain't so, Rob!) Can't quarrel with your line-up here. Though there are also a fair number of fine tracks from the dozens of spin-off bands they birthed (the Trypes, Yung Wu, Speed the Plough, Wake Ooloo, etc.), though nothing quite as good as the Feelies' own canon.
And, incidentally, no reason that Hoboken couldn't bring forth two of the post-punk era's finest acts. Though the Feelies beat them to the party, Yo La Tengo has survived far longer, with a more varied catalog, and in the process probably produced more tracks of note (albeit spread over more albums).
