so i saw the Walkmen last night, almost exactly 5 years after i saw them the very first time. it was a good show but only attended by about 100 people, showing just how far out of favor they have fallen with the hipster and flavor of the month crowd. which is sad to me as i consider them one of the five best bands of this decade...anyway here's a mix of some of my favorite songs.Feedback:
Good picks... I also saw them at a poorly attended show at a hotel bar last year, although it was a really weird event that was poorly advertised by the sponsor. I'm surprised their new album got such a lukewarm response, too. I think it's their most solid album yet.
You gotta put a couple of those Nilsson covers on there, man. "Loop de Loop" is a tad silly and mighta seemed outta place, but what a fun cover. "What's In it for Me?" is a great ditty, as is "Blizzard of 96." You got room! Don't short your brosefs on the Walkmen! :)
A little jarring on the transitions, too. A slow and mellow track like "Wake Up" that lulls you into sleep followed by a track that DOES wake you up.
