Comment:
72min. All songs are performed by a duo consisting of one male and one female.
(In
a few cases there are additional members who, for whatever reason, stay out of the
limelight although they no doubt have a positive contribution on the sound.)
Although the project is staffed 50-50, female vocals predominate.
The balance is tilted by several trip-hop artists that are configured with
a lady doing gorgeous ethereal vocals in front of a male synth wizard who
keeps his mouth shut.
The Submarines album was rated the #1 of the year by
Heartache With Hard Work.
Unitard was a folky duo whose work other than this track is unreleased. They later
added Brian Chase and changed
name to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Frou Frou track courtesy of FoolThemAll.
Creeping Jenny track courtesy of
Little Hits.
She looked into me so sweetly, and we left the room discreetly...
Feedback:
wow! amazing mix you've got here. 4, 9, 13, 17, 19 & 22 especially. just beautiful! <3
That's a really cool idea for a theme mix. Looks great!
Sabrina's right, a very cool idea. and there's lots of good stuff on it. would love to figure out a way to get my ears on this one.
lots of great theme mixes around here lately, this one is no exception -- i'd love to try this myself someday, actually. great picks all abound, very well done -- my girlfriend is a particularly big fan of the closing band...
Way cool, some Frenchy faves here, the closer is just beautiful.
Excellent theme and execution.
Superbly done and nicely posted!
Great idea, nicely done. Love the Mazzy Star.
Excellent. I'm with bear on the Mazzy Star, especially.
I still haven't given up hope that one day, all my street teaming for Norfolk & Western (Adam Selzer & Rachel Blumberg, Portland OR) will pay off, though.

Cool concept and great picks.
Yeah, great concept. Love the Dolls, Stripes and Frou Frou picks
Very cool, Ed. The modern duet. Love to hear it!
Downloaded the Submarines album last night ( through legal site Wippt btw ). And yes, it's a great album, my kind of music :)
It goes without saying I'd love to hear this, it looks fab Ed. Love the Frou Frou & raveonettes tks here....

Fascinating. I did this once a long time ago ... much more standard ... but a sound I never get tired of. http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=57430
This looks really excellent. Love to hear it
Looks great! I guess Sonny and Cher and the Carpenters were too ancient to make the cut, but you got some fine contemporary duos here.
great job ed !
This looks very cool, good sir.
even better for real than it looked on paper (or screen, I guess). favorites are The Brunettes, The Weepies, Mates of State, White Stripes, The Submarines tracks... but best of all is that Raveonettes tune. I'm gonna have to look into them. excellent work!
Cool concept - and yes, MoS, The Brunettes, The Raveonettes, and The Weepies are all standouts. What an amazing assortment of bands!
Very cool
loopy scoopy doopy duets, or quasi-duets, or what? "Female vocals predominate": that could be the title of half my favorite mixes!
I know all combinations are possible, but I sure do love that
high-low vocal back & forth you can sometimes get this way. Can I send you anything that would earn me a listen?

Not sure how I missed this (shame on me). This looks quite excellent.
AKA 'Are they or aren't they?' - though I'd rather not know in the case of The White Stripes... cool mix!
Thanks for including us in your mix.
It's quite an honor to not only be the first artist in the mix, but to be placed in such respected company: Dresden Dolls, White Stripes, The Kills, Mazzy Star, Mates Of State, Frou Frou, Raveonettes, and Goldfrapp to name several of our personal faves.
We're very flattered and humbled to say the least!
"...Keen..." is our first ever song, and we're currently recording our debut album for a release some time around Autumn 2007
Thanks for liking us well enough to include us! :)
Warm regards,
Edward & Sarah

And I am honored that they even posted
a little review of this mix!
Will be watching for the new album, folks.

Ed, this is probably my very favorite mix of yours that I've had the privilage to enjoy. It works wonderfully and put a smile on my face for three days of commuting. Thanks, Mang.
Thanks for the chance to listen to this - What a bunch of dolls! Those brunettes are deliciously loopy, but there are quite a few singers on here who sound deliciously blonde - but not JUST blonde as the electroluvs would point out. Overall it's coming across to me as a breathy, ethereal dreamy breeze to sail away on. And I love that Little Ghost too!
Nice presentation!
first off, great mix! secondly, thanks for the html tip. I forgot that I needed the code and then was too lazy to fix it. Hah
:)
:)
Hey, cool, glad to provide you with that track. Cool theme and great selections also by the Stripes - probably my favorite off that album - and the Weepies closer.
Wow, Ed...This is GREAT work...Stumbled upon it as I just this evening heard the Goldfrapp track on an Internet radio station and immediately fell in love with it...Of course, there you are, 2 years earlier with a feedback posting from one of the artists on the damn mix!...You are sooo awesome...
