Comment:

This 2 CD Mix set has multiple themes interwoven to tell a story. Part one begins the day and part two brings it to a close.
My mother told me that she had an art teacher when she was in school who put down her drawings, putting a stopper in her creativity and as a result she never thought she had artistic talent just like the boy in Harry Chapin's song, "Red Flowers", the first song on Part 2. I put together this mix for two reasons, (1) I wanted to make a mix that tells the story of overcoming the negative influences in our lives and (2) to do so using mostly Folk, Country, and Bluegrass songs. Since Bluegrass fits the art theme, I also wanted to incorporate songs about stormy weather to represent the green skies of the title and the troubled times we must overcome. Part one focuses mostly on negative influences, conditioning, and conforming to fit in with the norm including songs and narration from Nilsson's "The Point" and John Lennon's "Working Class Hero".
Part two focuses on standing up for your sense of individuality using positive influences and breaking away from what's expected.
Special thanks to Little Spencer Boys for providing the Harry Chapin track, without which this mix would not be the same.
