Comment:

A little more Brasilian goodness from Skipper. Tropicalia or Tropicalismo, for those who aren't familiar with it, was a short lived movement in Brasil from about 1967 to 1970. Tropicalia combined influences such as Bossa Nova and Samba, Afro Brazilian and Native styles, and Poetry as well as North American style Psych and Rock. The movement was pretty critical of the military government at the time and as a result , the main songwriters were thrown in jail and/or exiled which efectively brought about it's demise, but it forever changed Brasilian music, and many of the artists are still quite active today. A copy of this is on it's way to Joey de Vivre, but ,as it turns out, it's more of a prototype copy, as I made some last minute changes after I mailed it.

This looks very intriguing. I confess I don't know much of the genre aside from Kirsty MacColl's jaunts into the jungle, as it were, but I'd like to hear more.

Terrific. I've been listening to Os Mutantes, Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso and the Tropicalia Compilation a lot recently. Love the genre. There's a few here I haven't got so if you fancy a trade give me a shout :)

Lovely. Good to see Os Mutantes heavily represented. Those cats are cool. I heard they even reunited recently. BTW, your mixes are on the way.

Stunning, steamy screaming Sao Paulo sound!
Thanks for this ear-opening intro to a whole Amazon of brasiliana that I wasn't aware of - i thought I knew a little Jorge Ben & Caetano & Gilberto, but I guess not!
I'll be listening to this one a lot.
