Comment:
This is a mix that only lasts 33m06s (in the spirit of DJ Karen Adams). She suggested I go easy in one of her last comments, and I've taken it to heart (since I'll be having to move some time in the near future, I'm going to be devoting less time to full CD mixes). The mix is available as a zip file with the mp3 tracks enclosed via a link on the first song title. My apologies to anybody who feels that putting a Bread track next to a Three Dog Night track is the kiss of death (I happen to like both groups and think that these two songs are better than their average offerings). Other songs that didn't get included were The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" (song is way too long), Chicago's "Beginnings" (another long song), and Waldo de los Rios' "Mozart Symphony No. 40 in G Minor" (didn't quite fit the feel of the mix, but could be used as a bonus 11th track). The two chart numbers after the song title represents the chart position on 7/17/71, followed by the peak chart position. The picture is of Graham Nash from just before his debut album that included the song used here by him (track 8). The last track is off vinyl because I couldn't locate a better copy (was almost the same case for track 4).
Feedback:
Love the 2,3,4 run. I, too, like me a little Dog and Bread in the right place.
hey, remember back when you posted this one? just drew it out of my downloaded-for-future-listening stack. Ashton, Gardner & Dyke track is great, as is Three Dog Night and Mary Travers. love the trivia on chart positions. I always find it fascinating that wonderful songs stall out at #56 while complete shit rises into the top ten.
