I don't get it.

You never do john. Can't you see the brilliance of Britney, her driving melodies, the powerful backbeats? The lyrics expose the deep rooted feelings we all feel deep down and yet are unwilling to share. Britney gives the under-loved and the over-run a voice. She tells us of masochistic abuse ("hit me baby, one more time"), negative self-worth ("i was born to make you happy"). She speaks to the frightened child inside each of us. Personally, and this is from a very personal level, i think Britney Spears is the ultimate embodyment of music. She is a poet and a musical pioneer. Truly, a gifted spirit.

Alright, alright, I get it. Sometimes music is just music. It doesn't always have to have "deep rooted feelings." Sometimes it's nothing more than a beat and some shallowly strung together lyrics to pass the time.
