Comment:
So, its been an odd time for me. Bittersweet. Indeed, after five amazing years, I am leaving the Bay Area and returning home to Arizona. Although its been half a decade, I am coming back much the same person I was when I left: passionate, energetic, thankful for all my blessings, and most significantly, alone. Two states, two of the same story. You think you found that special person that was hidden from you, and after awhile, you are convinced you did, only to see you are grasping shadows and focused on illusions. Then you're left with just yourself, and glad for it. Its a matter of getting back to basics and finding your footing on the idea that I am important, I place value on what I want I think is valuable, and I am what makes me happy. It sounds narcissistic, but its not that simple. Its a complicated process full of trapdoors and halls of mirrors that make it hard to be happy.
Still, here I stand, shoulders back, chin up, stomach in, not just feeling satisfied, but feeling blessed with where I am. With this in mind, I decided to break away from my thesis for a bit and put these feelings in the best format I know: a mix CD. Some people play the piano, some play the violin; I play the radio. Its important to note that all these songs, all 28 of them (its a 2 CD set) talk about only the person singing them. That was my rule for this CD: Songs that are only about the narrator, not about others. That's where I am at right now.
So, here it is: "The State of Things."
