This one's for Helen who has her birthday today(hence it contains a lot of stuff I wouldn't usually use cos it's more representative of her taste in music than mine) However, with a little help from my AotM mates - Valis #7 & Peter #12 I occasionally manage to veer her toward decent stuff. The mix was test driven this afternoon at a birthday bbq and received a good response (for me that's unusual cos as a rule my mixes are way too, well shall we say too 'different' for folks tastes out here ha) Happy birthday 'H,' now I'll finish the champagne for you seeing as circumstances prevent ya from enjoying it yerself!

Happy birthday Mrs Frenchy! Lot's of eyebrow raisers here before I read the notes but all in all I like it, I had to make summat similiar this very weekend for my sisters birthday but alas I'm way too up my own arse to ever post it. I'll never tire of the Midlake track. Enjoy the bubbles mon ami.

You and Barry are clearly better people than I am - while I try to put into consideration the tastes of the people I'm making mixes for, if I don't stand by a song, it's not making it onto one of my mixes, no matter how much they'd like it. But then, I've been accused of snobbism before ;) That said, this is looking rather listenable.
Lovely mix for your wife. I think there's loads of stuff on this regardless! That 6 to 10 stretch is real nice.

i'm with alex on this one -- i won't put a song on a mix unless i can stand by it, or else i feel phony -- in my eyes, a mix made for someone else is to be shared by two people, not just loved by one. that being said, there's little to be ashamed of here -- lots of great stuff, esp. the apples in stereo & arcade fire tracks...

I hope "Saint" Helen had a great birthday. I hope the Amy Winehouse track wasn't in reference to a promise you made her. If I make a mix for someone and they like a track I don't-I give it to them anyway. It's not about me, it's about them.
