Comment:
To be played at this weekend's birthday bash for my grandmother, who at age 77 still likes to shake her butt nearly as much as her granddaughter. Detailed track notes and download available at my music blog. Enjoy!
Feedback:
godard is one of my top three favorite directors, band of outsiders is my second all-time favorite film, & that scene is my number one favorite scene in movie history (& the cover art is hilarious) -- add to that a batch of top-notch tunes from front to back, & you have a fantastic mix
That's a fantastic scene, Godard is a fantastic director, and what (little) I know from this mix is fantastic, but I'm going to bet that what I don't know here is at least very-good-to-great based upon your track record. :-) It's always a treat to see a new mix from you.
Jean-Luc would love it - & so would I!

I so desperately want to hear this. Havin' trouble accessing your blog. But I will try, try again :)
Geraldo Pino does it for me . . . heavy, heavy, heavy . . . hiccy hippy hippy burpday Grandma . . . I hope she has a great time.
Wonderful, simply wonderful.
since you're carrying around at least a few of her genes, it's safe to assume that this birthday gal is one cool firecracker! can't wait to listen to this... and please give your grandmother my best regards for her birthday.
My percentage of familiarity continues to rise with each mix you post. But, you continue to get better. And, you ALWAYS blow me away with at least three artist submissions I'd never heard of before.Five stars never suffice.
How many people here can honestly say that they've created a mixtape for their grandma? Anyone? Anyway, this looks amazing Miss Orchid. Bradys, Third Wave and a bunch of other stuff I haven't heard. Guess I'll have to download it, since my invitation to this shindig must have gotten lost in the mail. Will you at least e-mail me a photo of grandma getting her groove on?
put this on at work yesterday and we had our own birthday party, for the birth of this amazing mix! I marked my favorites with hand-drawn stars, but only ended up with 8 starless tracks. double-stars went to Kalyanji Anandji, Bobby Valentin, The Third Wave, Billy Petter & the Pepperpots, Amadeo and Geraldo Pino and The Heartbeats. you know, this mix brings that wonderful show to mind, "Dancing With the Stars," not sure why. have you seen it? I'm probably way off on that one. in any case, this is super, Orchid. just super.
Your grandma must have some solid hip bones, cause this shakes some serious booty. I've been looking forward to checking out Geraldo Pino, so a special thanks for including that.
This is a fun mix for sure. Will be playing this sometime soon at a social gathering.
A new Orchid mix is always reason to celebrate. Hope grandma agrees.
Sounds like a swinging party! Great lookin' mix.
Gods bless all butt-shakin' women. Forever and ever. Amen.
I also paired up the Third Wave and the Brady Bunch on a mix (see Something in my Eye). No doubt you were inspired by me! ;)
Oh, and thanks for the picture! I'm assuming that's grandma kicking up her heels on the right. So that's you in the top hat, correct? Looks like a fun time was had by all. I'll try to make it to the 79th celebration.
