Comment:

You know the riff I'm talking about... that "Sister Ray" riff, all three chords of it... and then even further distilled to a mere two chords by Jonathan Richman and his Modern Lovers. Guitar simplicity and perfection. All of these are variations on the basic pattern, some subtle, some obvious. I'm probably missing an example or two out there, so if something comes to mind please let me know and I'll revise on version 2. (No need for more covers... plenty of other "Sister Ray" and "Roadrunner" covers out there to choose from.)

now this is an interesting theme, & the song choices can't be faulted - the bookends are fantastic, & great stuff from wire, jamc, sex pistols, REM, & that 8-10 run couldn't be better

Excellent. Love those Wire and Pavement tracks and, of course, the Modern Lovers and VU. Shame to see Moe's jealousy of Steve Howe rear it's ugly head again.
