Comment:
Back in the mid 80's Nashville ushered in a stage of 'new country'. Heading the movement were three previously unknown artist - Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, and Dwight Yoakam. With in a few years Steve Earle had the doors of Nashville shut behind him for refusing to play the Grand Ol' Opera and 'powedering' his nose a bit too much. Lyle Lovett did the unheard of by releasing a big band album and Dwight did just fine by being Dwight. The 'new country' phase didn't last long and soon everyone was back to listening that 'achy breaky' song. this is the other side of the tracks where country is concerned, some place the Dixie Chicks have never been.Album can be downloaded from the first track.
Feedback:
great to see the v-roys here at aotm. that chris knight song is great as well. lyle and steve and robert earl as well. looks great.
Some great stuff here. Absolutely love Lyle Lovett's Dead cover and the Social Distortion track, as well.
This is the only kind of country to have.
Nicely done, friend (as a lover of alt country and country rock).
