Comment:
This is the first mixtape I've ever made for Lisa. I met her online and then we discovered that we lived around the corner from each other. This tape was intended to help her get through her exams on a happy vibe, but ended up being a mixture of stuff that I really needed her to hear, stuff that makes me feel happy because it is uplifting in the way that all great music is uplifting (even if it makes you cry). Anyway, the last song is an everything's-gonna-be-all-right one. Enough blather. And apologies to Lisa for doubling up on artists in places. I think it was justified.( Oh, and I'm making you a "punk, sort of" tape next. )
Feedback:
gorgeous. i'd love to trade for a copy of this.
what a lovely cd.
Being able to see the detailed sleevenotes makes it even better (oh, and hearing it, obviously) - thank you sososo much, it's gorgeous and I feel terribly guilty for neglecting to edumacate myself more with regard to, er, most of the artists on it. Very happy ears and brain.
Very pretty. Glen Hansard - is he from the Frames?
Yes, lead singer of the Frames. And a very nice one he is too. If you live in Ireland, he's om the cover of Hotpress this month.
Thanks, Stella, for the info. Unfortunately, I don't live in Ireland (I live way, way far away from there, in Australia!), so no hotpress for me.
love the title + inclusion of 'genetic.' a great song whose exclusion from 'dirty' was just criminal... oh, hell, this whole mix is great.
this is a gorgeous, gorgeous mix. i just got it in the mail today and i think it's going to live in my stereo for a while. stella, the repitition of artists is utterly justified here- i think some rules are made because we hope that someone will make us glad they broke them.
Glad you like it! Sorry about the ridiculous time lapse between promising it to you and the actual arrival on your doorstep.
