Comment:

My freshly-minted, supercalifragilistically fun collaboration with my old friend Mr. Mark Petruccelli--easily one of my favorite collaborative mixes with which I've been involved (then again, I feel that way about almost all of them when I listen to them). He supplied the odds, I supplied the evens. Thanks to Amy's Diner for introducing me to the Bad Plus just one week ago and to both SwankQueen (for mentioning it as a Zen Arcade favorite) and lo-fi (for placing it on his most recent mix) for reminding me of the Hnskers track. Title by Unbunny, more or less (the line is actually "Is this a song or is this a painting?"), whom I've been overusing these days (along with Dream Warriors), but they're so good and so unsung that I can't help but feature them repeatedly.

A most enjoyable exercise. Rob, of course, never ceases to amaze and I had a blast trying to take him some places he hadn't been (always a challenge.) Thank you, good sir. Also a thanks to Jenergy for the Asylum Street Spankers' track.

Strawberries & Cream, Gin & Tonic, Movies & Popcorn, Rob & Mark P. Add to that the 17 & 18 pairing too. Uber cool.

Super fun from two great guys. (Even if track 12 is the AotM equivalent of Conroy hogging the blankets -- glad I could help!)

Some interesting combos on this one: the aforementioned Dream Warriors/Collins (Joan, not Bootsy), Nilsson/Black Flag and Ray Charles/The Bad Plus. You're keeping the listener on his/her toes.

So I guess that makes you evens Rob? This is marvellous, and I'm with gobi on that unlikely 1-2 pairing. Love 13,14,18, & 19 also..

Spendid. Love the Blind Boys of Alabama -> Daniel Johnston (my very favorite Johnston song) and the Hnsker Dn -> Eleni Mandell bits especially.
