Comment:

After my father received a mix of music from the late '30s from me (he was born in the late '20s), he wanted to hear something a little more current, so here is music he would have heard in his early 20s. I know I'm posting this mix a bit early for Father's Day, but my Father doesn't have an internet connection and is very unlikley to see this mix posting (I'll be sending him a CD of it on Monday). Three artists were used more than once on this mix: Dinah Shore, The Mills Brothers, and The Ink Spots (and all three duke it out in the 19-21 track positions). Oops, Tommy Dorsey is used more than once also... The mix is available for download by clicking the link on the first song title. If anybody knows which of the songs (there is at least one) was from a year other than 1949, please let everyone know.

I love mixes that make me appreciate music of the distant past, and this surely is one of those. I'll check out all the tunes I don't know yet.

Some messages are timeless, like "Drinking Wine, Spo-Dee-O-Dee" for example.

Some Enchanted Evening is one of my all time faves. Keep it up R.J.-no one does what you do better.

This mix makes travel back to 1949 possible. This mix is the flux capacitor!

that Carmen Miranda tune ends up stuck in my head at least once every 3 months. loved the Wakely/Whiting tune, the inclusion of Mario Lanza, "Riders In the Sky" and that incredible 12 to 15 patch. really wonderful, thanks for the link. my gut says pops is gonna love it.
