Comment:

Meant as an introduction to Captain Beefheart, hence the under representation of "Trout Mask." That might upset some die-hard fans, but let's face it, you're not going to lure many people with the Cap'n's most obscure material. Extra attention paid to the flow of the mix. The "Hidden Track" is him saying, "A squid eating dough in a polyethylene bag is fast and bulbous, got me?"

Love to hear this. Since being introduced to "Tropical Hot Dog Night", I've been curious about likewise accessible tunes by the guy.

I've spent 8 years trying to "get" Beefheart. I can now make it through "Safe As Milk" and I like "Bongo Fury" but I still have a hard time with "Trout Mask Replica".

I love the picks from Safe As Milk (you've got all my favorites) and I'm seeing some other favorites ("her eyes are a blue million miles"), but much like Mark, I'm still working my way through a lot of his stuff.

I'm a fan, but you really do need a pack of Tums by your side the first couple of years you listen to him.

I wish there were a few more from Doc at the Radar Station (my personal favorite), but this looks really awesome anyway. Fucking great opener.
