Comment:
A collection of 60s Pop Gems. A bit of Psychedelia, RnR, Garage, Latin Soul.. All with one thing in common, they should've been a hit, but were sadly overlooked at the time.FACT! Popcorn Blizzard were originally named Meatloaf Soul. And their lead singer? Yes, the big man himself.
FACT! The Dave Cortez track was sampled by Christina Aguilera on last years smash hit `Aint No Other Man'.
FACT! The Chamaeleon Church's drummer was none other than Chevy Chase. He went on to achieve Worldwide fame appearing in Paul Simon's video for `You Can Call me Al'. He made a few films also.
FACT! The Gods underwent a name change and became more widely known as Uriah Heep.
THOUGHT! Where on earth was Dave Dee at the time?
QUIZ! 2 of these tracks were actually released in the 70s. Five Gold stars to anyone who knows which two..
Pt1 Pt2

Feedback:
Nice mix of names & nobodies, Sam. I'm guessing that #6 is an instrumental.
The title says it all Sam, sparklingly good.
Wonderful.
This looks stunning, to say the least. And the two 70s tracks should be by Vigrass & Osborne and Demis Roussos, right?
Correct both times Thomas! The tracks were included as I've been listening to a lot of Demis & Aphrodites child recently. What a voice. And until recently I didn't know the Vigrass & Osborne track existed, I thought that was written by Justin Hayward. Oh, and Saaf, the strangely titled tk6 isn't an instrumental....
Fabulous! Thanks for the big little gems and the fun facts. And yeah, what's up with Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich without Dave and Dee?
fabulous classic
This is fuckin' fantastic, Sam. MotW thus far, as far as I'm concerned. I'll be on this download immediately...
Amazing! I have a friend who has the Chamaeleon Church album on vinyl. Great stuff.
brilliant.
definitely my MOTW as well - that kinks song is particularly a real favorite of mine. you've been on such a roll lately, sammy, that little girl of yours is really giving you some top-notch inspiration to well from. on that note, happy father's day! & keep the spectacular mixes coming.
Simply incredible.
Oh, and Sam, Happy Daddy's Day!!!
Oh, and Sam, Happy Daddy's Day!!!
GEMS?! we think alike
Damn, this looks great, Sammy. If I hadn't dropped my computer last weekend, thus limitings its functionalities to those of a typewriter (and not the most reliable model at that), I'd be totally downloading this right now...
The title really says it all! I definitely approve.
Awesome mix.
Looks a winner from top-to-bottom sammyg!!! (Nice Hollies, Chrysalis, & Skip (!) Bifferty picks, too.)
Found, cut and shined to sheer brilliance!
Very nice.
Killer Sammy. Lots of new discoveries from familiar names.
I know that I am way too lazy, but as Anthony says . . . . . .
This looks fantastic, psych friend! I actually didn't even see it on the top 50. Before checking the recent submissions, I did a AOTM search for Rainbow Ffolly, and this mix (and a couple others) popped up. Have yet to DL obviously, but I'm already seeing great stuff by the Zipps, Hollies and Skip Bifferty.
Ukin' Fay! Nice!~
Damn bro, I haven't gotten to listen to one of your mixes before it reaches the end of the 100 list in a while, for that I apologize. I take it Gods and Godz are different bands, yes?
Great stuff - number 4 is an all-time fave!
frighteningly fine
Damn PC problems have stopped me from downloading this but I think they have been resolved. Do I need to say this looks out of this world? Well I'm saying it now and I'm sure I'll be back with more after digestion. Every single thing you do is a MotW contender mate. Truly.
I recognize all of the artists and only a few of the songs. I have to get some of these. Great work here.
lots of fun to listen to, Sam, and another brilliant collection. my favorites are Dave Cortez, 1863 Establishment, Demis Roussos, Jack Constanzo & Gerry Woo and that amazing Shangri-Las track. all of these songs were new to me. thanks for sharing them!
Magic!!!
a great lookin' mix sammy!
good mix. btw, about dave dee, dozy, beaky, mick & tich, one of their songs was in the movie grindhouse and prompted me to look it up on wikipedia, just because of the odd name. i think dave left the band either temporarily or permanently.
Very nice, anything with Beau Brummels and the Kinks is A+ in my book!
Happy Soul with a hook! What more could you ask for? I've just been listening to these sparkling gems courtesy of your helpful link, & I love those Nervous Kats & Gods & Strangers! many thanks -
Lovely mix... Particularly liked tracks 7 (need a longer version of that) and 17. Sorry I missed this when it was first posted (was busy getting ready for a move). Good thing you uploaded it to rapidshare so I could still DL it!
