Comment:
This mix was made in response to the Track 1's side 1's challenge from A.D. 69. Only the ante was upped to inlcude only debut albums (sans EP's singles etc) It includes song from the 50's 60's 70's 80's 90's and 00's.I saw High fidelity and thought it would be too limiting but once perusing my own collection found this to be quite a groovy mix. Enjoy!
Feedback:
awesome concept.
it seems to me that artists choose their best tracks for the start of side one - since it's usually their chance to make a positive first impression. even more so on their debut album, I'm sure. I still remember hearing "Caribou" when I first put on the Pixies' "Come On Pilgrim" LP. it made quite an impression and was not at all what I was expecting. [a new band on 4ad in the '80s called The Pixies? I was sure they would be wispy and ethereal.] but enough rambling. this looks like a superb mix full of top tunes, nice job.
Well constructed and a fun concept. Especially fond of 2,12,&14: all stunners that were just the tip of the iceberg.
Fine choices. There's Janie Jones again, and of course why not. I still can't imagine what it would've been like to put the needle on the record of Please Please me for the very first time back in '63.
Alllriiiggght. Nicely done, glad to see you upped the ante. Great mix...if I had to use your concept, the Doors, Ramones, Clash (obviously), Beatles, and Stone Roses would all make the cut.
as you say, groovy mix . . .
The final 5 rock major.
