Prepare for communion, you gettin' converted
Comment:
Made for a cute girl that has rather unfortunate taste in music (My Chemical Romance, Fallout Boy, Panic at the Disco, and the like) -- hopefully this 'll set her down the straight and narrow. This is the first mix I've posted on here (having only discovered the site yesterday) and as such comments/critiques would be greatly appreciated, especially regarding sequencing which I find the hardest damn thing in the world. (Haven't given it to her yet so there's still time to revise).
Feedback:
You Cannot go wrong with a mix when you include Paris 1919, the Feelies and especially anything from the Stone Roses' debut! Excelent work ma' man!

Welcome to AotM. Great first mix. Dig that 3-12 stretch muchly. Like the rest as well!
Some very impressive stuff here. Love your picks from Stone Roses, Smiths, and Kate Bush, especially. As far as sequencing, if it sounds good to you, it sounds good. Welcome to AOTM!
Looks great! Thx for the DL.
This will get her on the right track, as long as it is the first of a series, hint, hint...
Yeah, nice debut. Digging the Cale and Mag Fields especially. As far as sequencing goes, I think that Smiths / Os Mutantes / Mag Fields run shows you got it figured.
My best friend is a huge fan of MCR, Fallout Boy, and Panic, although he at least shares most of my own interests as well, but he's tried to convert me to them, and while some MCR and Fallout can be fun, there's something about their oversaturation in the media that annoys the hell out of me. Plus Panic is just a lame ripoff of Fallout, if you ask me. Anyway though, about YOUR mix...sequencing is all in the eye of the beholder. I mean, song styles can transition cleverly into each other, but it's not a crime if two or more consecutive songs don't exactly match. It's just interesting when they DO, and when there seems to be a rhyme or reason to which songs are first, middle, last, etc. You'll eventually just feel what belongs where, don't worry. Personally I think "Biomusicology" is a great opening track. It has the sound of promise, like something great is about to happen. Jesus & Mary Chain next to the Smiths is good, too, and the idiosyncratic baritones of Stephin Merritt and Ian Curtis - good thinking! See, you're a natural. Keep 'em coming :)
Mike, while the juxtaposition of Merritt and Curtis would have been clever, 100,000 Fireflies is sung by the sickly sweet voice of Susan Anway. Anyway, thanks for all the comments guys.
Any mix ending with Yo La Tengo and kicks off with Ted Leo needs no further scrutinization. Nice stuff, all around.
Yeah - that's what I'm talkin' about. She's lucky to have a musical mentor like you!
Welcome. Keep kickin' 'em out!
5, 7, and 9 rock my world! Just think of Art of th Mix and the music nerd girlfriend on the side you never had, and you two will be ok.

Here I am acting like I know everything. Sorry for the oversight (I don't think I paid attention to which song it was, but I should have given that he relinquishes vocals quite often). So I guess it doesn't actually flow at all! j/k
First mix ? Great stuff - especially John Cale for me . . .
