Comment:

The single artist in this mix is the amazing, talented, prolific, versatile, wonderful composer and guitarist, Marc Ribot. I tried to include an array of different musical projects whether solo or in a band, his compositions or others. Originally this was for a friend of a friend who asked, "Which Ribot album to buy, on the jazzy side and not too hard?" (no Electric Masada here). I decided that I could make a better mix than to recommend one album. I have been a huge fan ever since he walked out on the stage during Medeski, Martin & Wood's 2003 Halloween performance at the Beacon Theater. He was introduced as "The greatest guitar player in the world".

I have big plans to make a full retrospective of Ribot's work including at least one track from each album he's made or been a part of. He's on hundreds of albums so this may take a while. I have decided to start chronologically so I could make and "release" each edition one by one until I catch up to the present. Stay tuned!
