Comment:
Mike Gordon is one of my favorite bass players and composers. He is most known for Phish but has started to venture off into solo and collaborative projects. As with Phish, Mike has an extensive amount of live work and I'd like to include in future volumes. By chance, side A includes a side of Mike that is more quirky, experimental, and humorous that seems to define a certain aspect of his writing. Although these elements are definitely apparent on side B, Mike's song writing skills improved and expanding and refining into something that is becoming a distinct voice. This year of 2007, Mike has been not playing live and is only recording music. Looking forward to hear what comes out of it. He says he feels he's making his best work.* song credited as Phish but includes vocals written by Mike. I found it difficult to represent Mike's song writing from the Story of the Ghost sessions (which includes the Siket Disc) because the album was more of a collaborative all songs by Phish album. Even though Mike sings some of the songs, it wasn't necessarily written by Mike. Knowing that Mike definitely wrote the vocals for this song, I felt it was a good representation to this interesting point in Phish's work.
