Comment:
The second disc of my revamped Clash "anthology." Last tracks cut: "Should I Stay or Should I Go," "Remote Control," "Police on My Back," "Deny," "Jail Guitar Doors," "Clash City Rockers," "I'm Not Down," "Lover's Rock," "Garageland," "Julie's in the Drug Squad," "Clampdown," "One More Time," "The Street Parade" "All the Young Punks (New Boots and Contracts)" and "Up in Heaven (Not Only Here)." (FYI, all of the comments on both of these discs were posted by folks when it was a separate two-disc set. As such April 20's comment here references "The Call Up", not "Ghetto Defendant.")Feedback:
Even though Clash City Rockers doesn't feature (dunno why that's my fave Clash track when clearly White Man In Hammersmith Palais is so obviously a better song? Sometimes music choice defies logic I guess)Nicely done Rob.
You lose me a bit on this one-- I'm not a huge fan of the early samples here (and my pre-London Calling picks would look quite different). "Rudie" is up there with "White Man" for me, and kudos on the underappreciated "Atom Tan."
Ooh, you poor, poor, pitifully neglected disc 2! I still love you!
LOVE The Clash! Have to admit, doing a single artist disc for them is a massive undertaking (as others have mentioned), and I read through both thinking "Will he do it? WILL he do it???"And, yes, there at #18 on disc 2... my fav Clash cut...
Definitive too!
Kathryn is not a big fan of the Clash but she recently heard Protex Blue and expressed a liking for it.I,however, hold them in high esteem, though I feel they never beterred their first LP.Raw and angry, yet articulate too.Having said that Hitsville UK is one of my favourites,oh and Kathryn likes that one too.
