Comment:
A quickly-cobbled-together ode to one of the unsung power pop bands of the past decade. Got turned on to 'em after picking up the eponymous debut of Future Clouds & Radar, my favorite release of 2007 -- a sprawling, 2-cd set of home-brewed experimental chamber pop & power pop. Yes, as is often the case, it's overlong and deeply flawed, but loads of juicy pop nuggets. As one critic (i.e. me) has put it, just imagine Robert Schneider of Apples in Stereo and Robert Pollard of GbV trying to recreate the White Album from scratch, and you sort of have it.Frontman Robert Harrison (yeah, all Roberts, how about that) previously spent several years fronting Cotton Mather, a more traditional power pop band with all the usual benchmarks -- shades of the Beatles and Squeeze, crunchy chords alternating with melodic ballads, soaring harmonies, bolstered by Harrison's disturbingly Lennon-esque vocals. Their catalog is completely out of print here in the States, and many, many thanks to Cliff for supplying the albums for me.

Feedback:
In homage to your last comment, bands like these fellas are where you lose *me.* ;-) They're a little on the sterile side for these ears, although they're certainly talented. To each his own, however, and I'm sure you've picked their best stuff.
Huh Rob? Superb eats here & #'s 2,11 & 13 are my amongst my all time faves. Next trade add this to the pile for me please.
Looks like we'll have to keep the delights of Cotton Mather between us eh mon ami, the rest just don't know what they're missing!
