Comment:

Thought it would make for a delightful listen to compile a lot of the gorgeous female singers in my collection. This is by no means comprehensive, and I stuck to more contemporary songs (of the last 10-15 years), but it captures the many facets, powers, and joys of the female voice. I was going to include more rock at first, but a folksier vibe kinda took over, so Sleater-Kinney and tracks 19-24 are the only real remnants of that direction. I think I'll try for a grrl-rock mix sometime, just for kicks. For now, though, I'll be floating away to this symphony of womanhood...:)

This is rather well done, sir. I'm a little surprised to not see Ani Difranco or Joni Mitchelle (which I feel would've gone rather well the the "folkier" approach), but this still looks wonderful.

Nicely done. Always great to see Amy Rigby, Neko, Liz Phair, and Kirsty MacColl. Funny, I was planning a female-helmed mix myself; mine would include several of these, but would definitely add Barbara Manning, Mary Lou Lord, and Judee Sill (a few personal faves).

it is impossible to encompass all of wonderous womanhood in a single mix. add eleni mandell and rickie lee jones to the feeling slighted list. looks fabulous!

Gotta love the women. This is a pretty cool mix. How do you know Shelby Sifers??? Sorry, this is amazing to me (I went to summer camp with her and love her to death) But yeah, cool mix. Definitely want to see some Ani on the next one. ;)

I "accidentally" made a mix with this theme a long time ago (Ultraviolet) when the first five or six songs ended up being female vocalists and I wanted to see just if I could do an entire mix featuring XX vocalists. I really like a lot of your selections here. Nice work.

Lots of lovely ladies. My favourite bit of this mix is the Kate Bush-Kirsty MacColl run. But I love the Kate Rusby, Beth, Lucinda, Thea... Too many to mention. I've been enjoying Hello Saferide recently as well.
My favourites that aren't featured here you ask? I agree with Cliff re: Harriet W. And I'd have definitely found room for Hope Sandoval from Mazzy Star...

Excellent, I did a 2 disc one of these last year (http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=102480) and we have only Beth Orton, Lucinda Williams and Neko Case in common. Just a testament to the fact that there are a ton of great female voices out there.
