Comment:
i would've just made a my bloody valentine-kinks-neu!-zombies comp, told you it was a lilys mixtape and that would have been the end of it, but you'd have figured me out straightaway, huh? this collection is sorely lacking in tracks from the "zero population growth" EP (since i got it right after i'd completed this) and much of the "brief history of amazing letdowns" EP (since i had it from when it was released - '93 - lost it for years, and only just got it back again last week; i had to bite my tongue at the record store when it appeared in the used bin not to scream, since i'd been vainly hunting for its out-of-print ass for years now), but it's damn good, nonetheless. i think "ginger" (from said EP) is quite possibly the finest 5-minutes of pure pop-bliss ever recorded, and if you don't agree, i'll see you out by the bike racks after school, man.Feedback:
*sigh* lilys are perfection...this is a spiffy mix...bliss indeed!
Wow. I just heard these guys for the first time this week and love them. Someday (way off down the line) I would love to trade you something for this.
I take it you like the Lilys! "Ginger" is also my idea of pop-perfection. It's one of those rare songs that still gives me goosebumps even after 50 listenings. It reminds me a bit of early Teenage Fanclub and the melodic side of Sonic Youth. And even though their sound has changed, I still love almost everything they do.
I probably would have included the delirious seven-minute "Socs Hip."
