A Funky Center (Tunes from the Last Half of '75)
Comment:
Well, I finally moved to Oakland. Pretty much settled in when I learned from my father that my youngest brother has colon cancer. Since I had my attention on moving, I didn't get a mix I was planning for that brother to him for his birthday. This is the mix I should have made a few months ago. Since my brother was born in '63 and I believe that, for guys, music from their 12th year on the planet has a profound effect on them throughout the rest of their life, this mix embodies tunes from that 12th year after 1963. Since he and I both now live in neighborhoods with a large black population, it is also fitting that this mix includes many songs by black artists. Am also planning on sending him my mix of Moody Blues songs, since that music has helped me take my mind off any troubles I had in the past. The picture is of Earth, Wind & Fire (have two of their songs on this mix). The mix is available for download by clicking on the first song title.

Feedback:
1,3,6,16 & 18 were favorites of mine at that time.
Great year and great mix. 3,8,14 and 16 are all-time favs and I have fond memories of 2,9,17 and 18. Interesting theory that 12 year impact, definitely true with me.
I hope your brother makes a recovery - crap news for you (and him, of course). The mix looks like fun though . . . .
Hang in there -- and a good mix must surely help.
Bummer news about your bro. Hope it all works out.
Temptations and Smokey were way past their best days by '75, but there is plenty of cool stuff here.

This mix looks like it's getting to scratch a hard to reach itch. I think the 12 years old concept is good for girls too. I hope your brother will find strength in this. I do know music is healing.
Be strong for your brother and best of luck to him. Great mix Joe..
I'm lappin' up the tasty center of this mix, just like an Oreo. Nice work, Joe. (And I'll be seeing Earth Wind & Fire perform here next week -- outdoors, which seems appropriate.)
This is heaven. Ambrosia rules.
Such a good mix. Lovin that Ambrosia, EWF, Dylan and Bowie.
