a hearty helping of new (and a couple old) sounds from the U.S. - this comp took roughly two months to complete, as i kept getting too excited about it and leaving it in the car stereo for days on end before i'd finished it. every one of these bands pretty much thrills the hell out of me; hot snakes, and you will know us by the trail of dead, juno, and especially les savy fav. if you think the current crop of US independents (and i know, both amen and at the drive-in are technically on major labels, so stop typing that indignant e-mail this instant, okay?) begins and ends with what you've been reading about in SPIN, hopefully this comp will turn you on to some new sounds. first person to identify the song from which this mix is titled gets a hug.
