Wish I Could Find A Good Book To Live In
(Cozying up to Songs from 1970)
Comment:
This is my second mix of songs from the second half of 1970 (didn't realize that I had made a second mix of the exact period till after I was done). I ended up using two songs from that prior mix (tracks 15 & 20). It explained why it was so hard to find good songs to make a whole mix. So this one digs deeper into the charted (and uncharted territory) to come up with a complete product. The first mix had an average song charting in at 23.17 while this one averaged 37.88 (calculated using a chart rating of 101 for the two uncharted songs; it comes out to an average rating of 32.39 if the uncharted ones aren't counted). Some songs that didn't make it into the mix are Bread's Make it With You, Chicago's Does Anybody Know What Time It Is, Dawn's Candida, Elvis Presley's The Wonder of You, Freddy Robinson's Black Fox, Bob Dylan's Wigwam, Shirley Bassey's version of Something, Ike & Tina Turner's Wanna Take You Higher, Lynn Anderson's Rose Garden, The Jackson 5's I'll Be There, and Tommy James' Ball and Chain. Oh Yes, and a lost, uncharted favorite of my therapist's that I found but didn't find a way to mix it in: Shut Up, Woman by Bo Diddley. As usual, the mix is available by clicking the link on the first song title.<!-- -->

Feedback:
Deja vu is right on, Joe. This stuff was from when I was in my prime.
nice to see joanne find a place.
Kenny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Terry yer in yer prime now mon ami! What a great year '71 was eh.
Always enjoy your mixes by year. One super fave of mine here is Tighter, Tighter. The band's name is actually Alive 'N Kickin' -- since you're a guy who's so keen on detail!
Thanks everyone for your comments! Steve, you bringing this up reminds me of a recent discovery I made while perusing the Billboard Weekly Hot 100 charts for December 5 & 12, 1970, where they listed King Floyd's "Groove Me" as done by Pink Floyd instead. But in the case of whether the group name for Tighter, Tighter is Alive 'N Kickin' or Alive & Kicking, may not be as simple. According to All listings I can find from Billboard, their first charted hit of Tighter, Tighter was credited to Alive and Kicking or Alive & Kicking. However, there second charted hit later that year of "Just Let it Come" (only reached #69 on the charts) was credited to Alive N' Kickin'.I suppose it is possible that the label was issued with the group name slightly off and Billboard always goes by the label.
Why am I not surprised... you have set the record straight!
This is great Joe. I love the way your mixes are full of facts and figures. In fact I have an idea ( expect an email....)
