Comment:

When I thought about making a Strangefolk mix I laughed and realized I had to do this. It only took a few minutes to make. I had to send a link to the download to a few friends of mine that used to go to Strangefolk shows with me, trade their tapes and listen to them pretty consistently for a couple of years. We also simultaneously got into Phish, moe. and String Cheese Incident It was always kind of a funny, guilty pleasure but we weren't that guilty because we were in high school and didn't care. They did rock live, I promise you that. Anyone who saw the original band that ended around the early 2000's could probably agree that they put on a good show and wrote good songs. Think America, Bare Naked Ladies, Hootie and the Blowfish, Guster (kind of), Stephen Stills, country rock, and even Nickleback who I hate. You'll just have to listen. If you think it's shit, that's fine but give it a chance if you are up for the challenge. With a couple of listens I'm sure you'll like one of these songs. If you like jam bandy, happy neo-folk (but not freak folk) hippy shit, then you'll love this mix. It was a trip to hear these songs again for the first time in years. It still holds a place in my heart and it makes me all nostalgic. Ps. I have yet to see the current strangefolk since the lead singer has left and members have changed. Maybe I will give it a listen. The lead singer of this band is now in the band Assembly of Dust.
