Comment:
here's a mix dedicated to some of my favorite mixers who've gone missing lately. I've taken a song that each of them had used on one of their past mixes to provide a small sample of the many reasons I'd personally like to see them keep posting mixes on AOTM. most of the mixers included here are ones whose frequent postings I've enjoyed in the past, but they haven't been around as much in 2007. some are people who often turn up when I search for some of my favorite groups on AOTM, though they haven't posted anything in years, and a few here are personal friends here in Seattle who've posted in the past, but haven't in a while (I've included each mixers last posting date). unfortunately, there were quite a few more on my list that wouldn't fit on my mix. anyway, just wanted to say that these folks' absence has been noticed, they are missed and... The Art of the Mix Gorilla Want You Back! ps. that long-haired guy with no clothes on is praying that each and every one of you will post a new mix by the end of the month. listen to sideone.
listen to side
two.

Feedback:
I have a sneaking suspicion that you'll have an answer to your prayer (@ least 1 of 'em) sooner than you think, tornadoZ...
...meanwhile, this looks nifty!

These are some of my favorite mixers, too. And this, too, is one hell of a mix.
I also know that one of the MIA has a mix percolating...nice job, tunes, links & all.
posdata: hay que agregar uno mßs, ya van mßs de 2 a±os (2 de octubre de 2006).
Great! I will be back, soon! Cheers, Alex.
Lots of my favories here like, Tom Waits - Big In Japan, Joy Divisions - Atmosphere, Scott Walkers - The Old Man's Back Again
& Caves - Henry Lee. Bravo! Excellent Work!

Excelente Trabajo TornadoZ!
Regresare muy pronto.

Thanks for this mix and the links! I plan on doing a mix of songs I discovered via AOTMers and may just adopt a couple of the songs you used here... One mixer I'm curious about that you didn't include is randy13. I traded with him about three years ago, but he stopped posting after 6/20/2006. I discovered from a posting by his best friend bingsy (also from Austin, TX) that randy13 had open heart surgery not long after his birthday on 10/2/2006 (or at least he was waiting for a transplant then). bingsy's last posting was on 6/17/2007 when he made a mix for a "long drive to a new destination". I haven't seen a posting from either one since. If anybody knows the story of what happened to either one of them please let me know. I'm hoping that randy13 will show up to post another of his famous Holloween mixes soon. If he doesn't I'll be listening to the CD trilogy of his 2004 All Hallows mix next weekend in his honor.
yeah, where are these guys ? They have talent !
what a wonderful sentiment, & it doesn't hurt that it's backed with a boatload of killer tunes - it's hard to believe some of these people have been gone that long, it seems like they were just posting here yesterday...
Track 4 on side two is my favorite song by Big Star. This all looks really good.
nice tribute. i hope your message gets through and brings folks running back.
Many thanks for the nod, Alex. And in surprisingly rapid response to your prayers I have a new offering here,
as the l@bber hinted at below (although there is a very good reason for his prescience).

What a lovely sentiment, indeed. Some of these mixer names are ones I've been hoping to see more often again too, others I've not even heard of before, but on the basis of these excellent song choices, I'll join you in the hope that each one of them is going to post a new mix here soon.
As always, Anthony said it best. I am suppose to receive ten tracks from Nest of Vipers for a joint mix.
Fantastic mix, certainly wonder where the girls are. & I was recently corresponding with Gerry (Mc12)trying to get him back on board. Where's Dom? Lost in France somewhere bout 3 hours from me but haven't heard a word from him since he upped sticks to my neck o'the woods. Is Buglady deep in the jungle somewhere? I could go on but these lot sure have contributed a lot to this site and I too would love to see em treading the boards again.
Yes. I really want to see the three mixers who open side two badly. Amazing idea and flawless execution, Alex.
These are most of my favorite M.I.A. mixers, as well, and there are plenty o' great picks from their work. If you'd toss Casetta, gerry mcdonald, and Brandt into the mix, it'd be complete for me.
They are missed! Great selections and mix.
Sweet idea! One that any regular or semi-regular AotMer can relate to. I have a real soft spot for Buglady and have been wondering for some time what's become of her.
I'll double what Rob said, though I could add a few more names: SueEW, Lakespeed, Fwak, Teapin, Mike Pike Set, Stephen Royce and that guy who posted nothing but Led Zeppelin bootlegs. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. I'm sure they have their reasons for being absent from the site, but it would be nice to see some of the old names again popping up in the most recent 50.
Forgot to compliment you on the mix! How rude of me. Just shows that these M.I.A.ers have exquisite taste -- just like you.
Wow, where have these guys been ? Alot seem to have jumped ship this year. And a bunch of great songs here as well.
wow, great point and great mix. No fewer than 10 trading partners o'mine appear here. Sometimes life gets in the way.
Great mix. And, fantastic sentiment.Unfortunately, I have not been even remotely surprised by the sheer volume of the exodus.
Oh yeah, Moe's list is totally in line with mine. I meant to mention some of them.
Well, I miss the first 4 on Side A and NoV of course.. But it's side B that is like a who's who of all that is great & good about AotM ( the Wonder Years aside of course - they were shit ). I hope this mix gives them all a kick up the backside as they're all thoroughlly missed..
Great idea btw Alex, and a fine mix is the result..

Here you go, Gorilla! Thanks for keeping this ship afloat, ye devout mixers. Great idea, Alex.
Indeed, keep on calling out. Mayhaps they will return...
Seems to have worked, Alex - just pray the rest of them return to our shore.
very nice tribute, Whatever happened to all these guys, shall we mailbomb them back ?
Wow Alex, I'm very impressed that you've managed to bring 5 of these mixers back from the dead in the past few days! If only you could bring River Phoenix back. I will return soon, maybe not by the end of the month, but soon.
we're baaa--a-ack!
well, sort of. alex, loving this wonderful collection. Peter, we could carbomb them back, eh?!?

I hear the ape call! & of course the whistling whoosh of a tornadoz . . . thanks for the notice - I was just otherwise preoccupied for a bit, didnt mean to go AWOL . . .
