Comment:

The title comes from an offhand comment on one of my early mixes.

Compost here because these songs represent the tracks that never quite found a home on the other redneck mixes so I just threw the lot in this bucket. And besides, I am a certified compost wacko.
Stag because it is the true King of Beers and because it is a fitting tribute to my good ole Grandpa Bernie.

Bottoms up.

where on earth do you find the time indeedy !Mostly this is excellent and right up my (red neck) street - gotta say though, that some of the more 'C&W' type tracks really get on my tits !Anyway, I can go to bed now since I've learnt something today - brewing beer in Belleville and the rights and wrongs of composting !

Great mix, gotta take issue with you re the 'King of Beers' comment. With the greatest respect you guys haven't a clue how to produce good beers, takes us Europeans to do that job properly!

F.C. is right about the mix wrong about the beer. At least his understanding of how we use our beer. We drink beer to put the fire out from the Tennessee "shine" shot we just took. This mix has the "Hank Thompson/Johnny Ace" seal of approval.

Great work, again, no matter what your beer preferences.

I don't want to get too DP on this mix, but I have to defend the beer a bit.

As Terry mentioned, my declaration is based on the school of thought that you pick a beer by being cheap enough for marinade, yet decent enough to drink. And watery enough to put out literal fires when bbqing.

And as I told Cliff, I would prefer a good Newcastle or St. Pauli Girl and of course the Bruces had it right though. American beer is like making love in a canoe (fucking close to water). Stag is like making love in a canoe in the Mississippi River, of course.

the Spade Cooley to Mississippi John Hurt run on disc one is impressive, and I loved the Glen Campbell/Carter&Cash pair on disc two, along with Leadbelly's version of "Goodnight, Irene." also, "White Sport Coat" is the only Marty Robbins tune they have at the local karaoke joint, and I hadn't really heard it until now. will listen repeatedly, then head down to grab the mic.
