Comment:

This part of my two part mix of songs from the 2nd half of 1971 lasts 53m40s and includes one song that was used on a previous mix (track 12). That track is also the only one that peaked in 1972 (January) after being released in November of '71. Some songs that didn't make the cut: Saturday Morning Confusion by Bobby Russell (a bit too silly and overplayed me thinks), What the World Needs Now by Tom Clay (a long and pretty depressing song), Got to Be There by the Jackson 5 (that high note Michael hits can be pretty irritating after a while), Baby I'm-A Want You by Bread, Stick-Up by Honey Cone, Desiderada by Les Crane, Cherish by David Cassidy, and Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who. I chose to post a picture of Barbra Streisand off her LP from this time period that included track 13 (or at least an album version of it). That, or rather the live medley version of that song (with Sweet Inspiration) from 1972, was one of my favorite songs back then. I liked it so much I used to sing along with Barbra, much to the dismay of my brother who chided me for singing a "woman's" song. To which I exclaimed, "Yeah, I know, and I don't care!" You can access the mix by clicking the link on the first song title.

The Lighthouse / Chicago / BS&T trio are my horn-punctuated faves here!

Wow, was that final track a US No1? Never knew that.. More great stuff. Incidentally when I commented on a mix of yours a few weeks back and you emailed me asking about it, did you get my reply? Only a few people hadn't been receiving my email replies...
