Comment:
Disc 1 of my triple-disc chronological Purple One anthology, motivated by my dissatisfaction with my single-disc comp that I did six years ago (and which is now deleted). Originally, I thought everything would fit on two discs, but I was wrong. Prince is someone that I don't think about as often as I should, mostly due to his annoying personal eccentricities. That said, he certainly was one of modern music's real visionaries--a guy who really created his own style of music. Last tracks cut from this volume: "Free", "Delirious", and "1999" (whose verses I like a lot but whose chorus and sentiment I find kind of annoying). Special thanks to Derek for "Let's Pretend We're Married."Feedback:
Great overview, Rob. I always felt like I didn't pay enough attention to Prince.
Congratulations also on sneaking three mixes in through the noise on AOTM.
i actually never thought you liked prince much, rob - i recall seeing only a single-disc of his work from you, & i rarely see him show up on your mixes - so with that said, this is a pleasant surprise, as prince has always been one of my all-time favorite musicians - glad you decided to go with three discs, there's just too much good stuff
Hears to purple power.
Quality through and through. I'd say up to about 1991 Prince hardly put a foot wrong. Love the comment about your single disc now being deleted :)
Who doesn't love Prince? Looking forward to hearing these!
Always had a place for the purple one.
Did you punch a hole in the corner of that deleted disc? Or did you crop the corner? Personally I am a punch man, but I like it through the label, like they did in '58.
both edgy and sexy
