Comment:
I cain't hide what I am, I haf to be sad when I should and not laugh at nuthin, eat when my stomach's growlin' and not sit around waitin' for someone who ain't gonna come,
sleep when I'm tard and not git in noone's stuff,
laugh when I got reason to and I won't piss on nobody's back and tell `em it's rainin'.
Posdata: doowadette and I have been reading the Picture of Dorian Gray, she the scaled-down Spanish version and me the college dork edition, hence the title.
Posdata 2: The Tom is for Tom.
Feedback:
i love how you follow up the wonderful tom waits track that kicks off disc 2 with the a song by johnny cash, written for him by waits - very clever - this is filled to the brim with classics, as always, i absolutely love it - dylan, waits, cash, stones, gillian welch, elvis, white stripes, byrds, kinks, merle haggard, hank williams, bruce springsteen...so many favorites of mine
Great stuff. I especially love your Springfield-Stones-Waits run and your selection of one of my favorite deep Dylan cuts ("Temporary Like Achilles") on disc 1 and your Nesmith, White Stripes and Kristofferson picks on disc 2.
art for art sake, good stuff
It's all very good.
I really love your mixing style, especially for roots style music like this. It has a really nice flow.
This is stellar, to Anthony's point, the front 6 on side two are wonderfully sequenced.
Very nice, and I agree the opening sequence on side two is particularly good.
Another untouchably awesome and expansive submission. Amazed.
Maybe I'm also amazed..
Hoping for more 'Useless' mixes such as this!
i am not sure how you do it derek, but you always find songs by artist that i love that i am unfamiliar with. thanks for the tom.
A Wilde one!
Particularly pleased to see the Kinks & Stripes mixing it up with Townes, & Billie with Gillian, but they all seem to be getting along together very nicely -

A fine workout.
Nice one. Lots of wonderful combinations and just an overall great feel.
This is all just top notch! So many great tracks keeping each other company. I'm particularly glad to see Ralph Stanley in there.
Awesome mix, dude. Really enjoyed listening to it this morning.
Sweet mix. Really like Sugar Never Tastes So Good, and Silver Tongued Devil is one my favorite Kristofferson songs, though I haven't heard it with Jackson Browne.
