Comment:

another from the 2007 El Gallito Mexican Restaurant Legends of the Ancient Americas Calendar Mixtape Series. May. this one features Latin-influenced jazz and big band instrumentals, with some vocal tracks thrown in here and there for variety. I just looked up Cuauhtemoc on Wikipedia. he was an Aztec ruler in the early 1520s, and evidently quite a guy. if you want, you can read about him too by clicking
here. listen to side
one.
listen to side
two.

I'm completely and totally unfamiliar with this material, as per usual with these mixes of yours, but I'm sure this will be as fine a listen as the rest. :-)

Yeah, he is the Man, there is a reason why Cervecerfa Cuauhtemoc was always more succesful than Cervecerfa Moctezuma (before the merger). Thanks for not putting Cortez the Killer here, great guitar, terrible history.Looks like a perfect mixed genre mix, love the Paraguayos and King Cole, of course.

c'mon baby, do the Loco-Nova!

(Actually, it would be funny to include Dave "Baby" Cortez someday on one of these "Legends of the Ancient Americas" series, he'd probably look good in a hot sombrero.)

Thanks as ever, & there will be some payback coming your way soon -

Cuauhtemoc? Yeah, I met him once, back in '21 we had a few beers & got on well. He was a keen Baseball fan and a bit full of himself. We never met again but did exchange a few messages on Facebook. I was very upset he died at such a young age...
This mix is a great tribute to a fine, fine man...
