Comment:
And so here comes yet another in a long line of eclectically scatterbrained mixes from yours truly! :-) I don't really know if this gels together as well as my last entry - I'll leave that up to you to decide. The thing is, I had only a list of potential songs that I wanted to put on, and only the vaguest idea what the song order was going to be. I worked on both discs simultaneously, going back and forth, but at one point I stopped and returned to it the following day - at which point I was in a slightly different headspace! So like I said, I think it only just hangs together. Anyway, you be the judge!Feedback:
love that you've squished ABBA between At the Drive-In and "Pinball Wizard." Ha! also a fan of Soundgarden, Gene Loves Jezebel, Def Leppard, Iggy Pop tracks. don't know as much on disc two, but I almost used Dave Navarro on our alt-DJ mix. it was a close one.
Again, I don't like everything, but what I do like (Nirvana, Johnny Thunders, Iggy, Who)
Love the Clash, Patti, Doors, Hendrix, Alice in Chains, and Hendrix tracks . . . the Beatles, ABBA, Def Leppard, Ozzy, and Rush tracks have all survived potential overkill . . . but that Aerosmith song will be played to get me to crack to interrogation, along with the collective works of James Blunt and Nickelback or "You're Beautiful" and "Rock Star" will have me screaming for mercy.
Oops, that second Hendrix was meant to be the Who. . . .
I'm getting really into Hammill at the mo, so that is what particularly grabs me . . . . along with a shed load of classics, of course.
I am not sure what happened to the rest of my sentence below, but I just wanted to say that there is a lot to like, even if there are a few things (particulary Nickelback) that I don't like. Doowadette likes Rockstar, which is kitzchy in its own sort of way (it would have been better for Weird Al), but NB always seemed to me to be about 20 years too late to be anything close to original. Plus I always thought Gavin Rossdale had the husky Kurt Cobain impersonation market well locked up.
My apologies to Slimsisney with regards to the Aerosmith track, but when listening to the radio one day a couple years ago, I heard the Beatles' "Come Together" and Aerosmith's "Livin' On The Edge" played back-to back and segued almost seamlessly together. I thought that was cool, so I just thought I'd do the same thing here. (Although, alas, one cannot segue while putting together a mix disc! :()
No need to apologize, Darth. We all have our limits in taste and that particular era of Aerosmith is one of those sensitive areas. And, yes, I do agree it's cool to put the Beatles' "Come Together" and Aerosmith back-to-back, seeing the Aerosmith cover may be as beloved as the Beatles original.
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich. Was this the track off of the Grindhouse movie. Either way...love King's X. Yeah, I said it.
Actually, it WAS off the "Grindhouse" soundtrack! I've put a couple of songs from that soundtrack album on past mixes - specifically Willy DeVille's "It's So Easy" and Smith's "Baby It's You."
