Comment:
A follow up to the very well received Little Gems mix I posted just under 6 months ago. Another collection of forgotten 60s rarities, oddities and obscurities.. Plenty of pops and crackles, and unsurprisingly, lots of emphasis on Pop. File under It under `It should've been a hit' or indeed `How on earth was it not?'.Plenty to enjoy here, and I hope you all do...
Pt1 Pt2
Feedback:
I always tell you this, but I always learn plenty of new groups on your mixes, so thanks! Here, I think I have heard of the Mugwumps, Paisleys and the Bee Gees, but I don't mind pleading ignorance on the rest. Keep on keepin' on!
I only know a few as well, but I'll bet this is fantastic!
wow, you've dug deep here . . . . I know loads of the bands, but not a single track . . . . harumph, I'll go investigate . . . . as if I've got time for that ! ;-)
BIG Smiley Face
Great stuff Sam. I especially enjoy Cyrkle and Cryan' Shames.
That's a fine mix. Have you got the Piccadilly Line LP? Very pleasant psych pop. If you're planning to send me a mix this one would be perfect.
another infectious effort, sammy, lots to write home about here
Very cool.
I look forward to a listen!
Great stuff.
Great stuff.
Sweet. I'm sure this is great.
Oh goodie! Another box o Sammy treats! ... I know the Bee Gees....
more audio gold from aotm's own king midas...
A lovely mix. I enjoyed listening to it the afternoon.
A pleasant excursion into uncharted territory (at least for me)... Enjoyed exploring both "Gem" mixes at work today!
I dig your groovy scene.
So much to love. This is a great poppy collection.
What they all said
excellant mix..good to see a lot of these groups on the same page...especially the cryan shames underated"scratch in the sky' good job.
The stuff I know is amazing (Cyrkle, Picadilly Line, Ballroom, Mallory. Yellow Balloon), so I'm sure the gems that I have yet to uncover are pretty darn-tootin' wonderful too. A top 40 mix in a parallel universe.
put this in my ears on the flight home from Montreal, which was re-routed through Cincinnati since flights to Chicago were all canceled that day. it had been a long day... and I fell asleep at around track 15. so I stuck it on again today in the office and it was a big hit. loved the crazy opener and the Hapshash & the Coloured Coat tracks. also, the Sandy Salisbury/Francoise Hardy pair, Charlie Feathers and especially that George Baker Selection selection. more gems, indeed.
