Comment:

For the hell of it (finally). Title by Mr. Chadbourne. And you would not believe how much that Marillion (a band that I've always loathed and still do, but for this selection) track sounds like Super Furry Animals--in places it's absolutely uncanny.

I like the 8-15 stretch especially. Always nice to see a sweet FTHOI mix on the board.

Lots of choice for the hell of it picks here. Especially like the Ray Barretto, LCD, Brubeck, Wyatt & Joy Division tracks.

this looks really cool, rob - love the 'mats, prince, elvis costello, joy division, peter sarstedt (am i right in assuming the inspiration for using this song was derived from wes anderson?), & joy division tracks especially.

Atmosphere AND Shipbuilding? Christ on Earth that's great. And one of my favourite Xmas records also... Great mix.

Untouchable opener and some fave picks from Thurston, Prince and Sweet. Never heard that Marillion track (comparisons to Genesis when their first LP came out was enough to put me off them for life), but I'm curious now to hear that tune.

Looks cool, what I know of it. My favorite Joy Division song (or thereabouts), and, of course, "Love Is Like Oxygen" is the greatest song in the history of manking. (Oddly enough, I have it on my harddrive saved up for my next random mix; curious what inspired you to include it as well.) As for Marillion -- never listened to 'em, except for that single "Kayleigh" or whatever, which I remember liking at the time in a guilty pleasure sorta way.

Best thing you've done in awhile, IMHO, but I'm biased because I already loved the Jorge Ben, Ray Barretto, Prince, etc... even that Marillion track is pretty cool (who knew?). Five stars!

Awesome. I love the songs I know and want to hear the ones I don't. And the Prince - Costello = bold and great.

Digging the LCD Soundsystem, Mountain Goats, Brubeck, Sweet Elvis C and Greg Lake and thanks for turning me on to No Age, it took a couple spins but I get it.

hey, look. here it is, fwiw.
Yeah, man! This is the stuff, right here. Man...I was just looking at this track list and realized that I really dig that Mats->Robert Wyatt stretch there in the middle. Gold. Not to mention the fucking KILLER Sweet track into the Damned into "Irresistable Bitch" ! ...and the Babyshambles/Libertines thing...I've gotta get myself more schooled on those boys. anything i've heard from them (mostly off of previous mixes from you or lo-fi jr) I've liked a lot. oh, and i'm getting ready to check out those no age kids as i type this. okay. fine mix, sir

Good to see that you haven't forgotten about the FTHOI mix, as this looks to be a lovely listening experience -- even the Joy Division :)

Well done. I wholeheartedly concur with lo-fi jr. And I really liked that Peter Sarstedt song until that filmmaker ruined it (as he's done with so many songs) by putting it on his soundtrack.

A great late period Elvis song and possibly the best Sweet song, that should be good enough but then there's Wyatt, Joy Division, Mountain Goats and the Replacements. Another fine mix you've got me into.

always a fan of your FTHOI mixes, and this is one of your best, as the Queen says. hi-lites for me are LCD Soundsystem, Sweet, Eugene Chadbourne w/ Camper Van Beethoven, the Dave Brubeck/Robert Wyatt pairing... but best of all is the Peter Sarstedt/Greg Lake/Joy Division trio. "Atmostphere" is one of my all-time favorites, and I won't let filmmakers or the Christians ruin those other two tracks for me, never! thanks for sharing this one, Rob.

lots to love here . . . although I used to especially love Marillion way back when (82, 83?) when I used to roadie for them . . . they did go off the boil after the first top of the pops performance though, from what I remember. Haven't listened to them or thought about them in an age - and haven't even heard of this track.

ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING MIX. Truly a masterpiece on many levels. Another steller production.

1-9 is like an attack. 10 lets you catch your breath and then it starts all over with many more incredible songs that JUST FIT together in a perfect way here.

I have had mnay tood spins, most noteably was the 2+ hours cleaning my gutters (rain spouts) with this pure sonic joy lifting me higher.
