it's the 2007 El Gallito Mexican Restaurant Legends of the Ancient Americas Calendar Mixtape Series. January. I just learned that in Aztec mythology, Xochipilli is the god of love, games, beauty, dance, flowers, maize and song. He is also known as Macuilxochitl, which means "five flowers." it also apparently means "drag queen," and I bet he's a real show-stopper at Amerika Disco in Buenos Aires late on a Saturday night. listen to sideone.

Wow. As per usual, I know one song (this time it's by ABBA). The rest will have to be revealed to me upon downloading, although, as I've said a million times, I'm sure it'll be a treat.

Can't believe I'm looking forward to a mix with Shakira, ABBA and Menuda on it (but I am!) Al DiMeola doesn't get enough love around these parts.

I liked Shakira when she was still based out of Colombia and had all black hair (en su inocencia), but she still puts out a nice pop song.

Well, if that is Macuilxochitl in the pic...that's one convincing drag queen ! There's lots to love here, but Charo & The Salsoul Orchestra doing lets spend the night together !? That's really got my attention. I don't know about Eva Avila...maybe I've had too much Canadian Idol.

Finally had a chance to give this a listen this afternoon, and was in magicland as usual. Particularly liked the two tracks leading up to (and including, of course) ABBA. Two Man Sound, Menudo.. The Los trio on Side 2, and the tk at 26.00 on S2 also.. Fine stuff Alex.
A fin, fine mix Alex. I particularly enjoyed the last half of the second side. "Por Las Estepas" was a killer closer.
