Comment:
Much as I enjoy 'Theme' mixes, I'm much happier making mixes where anything goes, and these particular ones get more plays on the stereo/car CD player/i-pod etcHere's one of the latter, simply a collection of 28 tunes that I think are pretty fab, and am hoping others living on planet AotM might agree. Thanks to Moe for tk5 and V for turning me on to U.N.P.O.C.
A few points worth noting - The Zillions track, fine as it is, sounds VERY similar to a VERY famous piece of music, if you download, it'll become apparant. The Ernie K. Doe track is my favourite song in the world, ever, at least for the moment... And 5 gold stars to the first mixer who can tell me who's responsible for the artwork, nice 'n easy...
Enjoy!!

Country'll grow!
Yeh yeh, that's what I said!
oh my god this is gorgeous, sammy! another new fav song in the world ever already, huh? ;) keep it up, dad!
Oh man, that opener is sexxy. Love that 23 to 26 stretch.
Good Dancers, Hit The Ground, Sunrise Cafe, Yeh Yeh, Artificial Energy, The Pebbles Twist, Morning Sun,Doorways and Low Expectations are the diamonds among these gems.
Cool collection of upbeat tunes here, Sammy. Thanks for the link!
Let yourself go & make a joyful noise! Another smokin session w/ Brigitte Bardot & Ernie K Doe, a mix made in heaven. Thanks, thanks, thanks!
I'm an "anything goes" (some would say "For the hell of it") kinda fella, myself, and I'm all over this. Thanks for this, sammy--it looks like just the shot in the arm that I need right now. :-)
The Bird And The Bee has been a constant for me lately... What I know I really like! And what I don't, I'm definitely checking out. :]
This looks pretty bloody fantastic mate! Plenty here I'm unfamiliar with, but what I know I like immensely -- Spice Girl Emma, Roe, Dressy Bessy, Buds, Byrds and the Bee. Might have to fire up the 56k modem tonight. Not sure who did the artwork, but it looks like a poster advertising the Cheech & Chong production of the Lion King.
I don't see how anyone on planet AotM might disagree about the fabness of these tunes, Sammy. Pre-listen, "Griselda" is my favourite of all the fab tracks that I've heard already, but then, I haven't even heard your favourite song in the world, ever, right now, yet, so I have something to look forward to.
Lovely stuff. I'm with Unrecorded on the Bird and the Bee disc. Always nice to see Ernie K. Doe.
Just seeing that Ernie K.Doe song written down conjures up an array of sexy girls in gorgeous dresses. Other titilating tunes: Byrds,Essex Green, Comet Gain,Georgie Fame,Darling Buds.
that Sleepy Jackson CD is one of my favorites from the decade so far. also loved the Sargasso Trio (naturally), BMX Bandits, the pretty Edwyn Collins closer and that Les Gluetones/Vigil/Emma set was outta this world. "Maybe" could be the opening credits theme song for the next 007 film! great stuff, Sam. and the artwork; did Ava draw that monkey?
Always looking for shiny gold positive reinforcement and The Notorious SyFi Chimp is, too. Google Scott Kim for instant ambigrammatification . As usual I know almost nothing here - so much to discover!
What I know I like, but there's not much I know here. Looking forward to the education.
Thanks to everyone who commented, it's always appreciated. The answers then - the cover art is by Andy Warhol, I think. Google Ambigrams Warhol and this image appears anyhow. The Zillions track is, for me, a blatant rip off of 'Jerusalem', give it a listen...
So now you know :)
So now you know :)
Love the mix, although I'm not sure what it has to do with breast examinations....
Didn't know much of this except for tracks 13 & 15 but it was definitely worth a listen at work today (a definite highlight of the day)... Thanks sam!
Nice one. Lots of artist I knew but not the songs. That Sleepy Jackson CD is one of my favs too.
Yawn... rubbish as usual ;) Give somebody else a chance Sam, Christ on a bike 6 of these songs are on might post comps of mine. Oh well you have to get up pretty early to trump you mate. So so good, looking forward to filling in the gaps too.
I think I can read the signature... Eric somebody? Great listen Sam. This is your territory. And no, I don't think it's an Andy Warhol, just in the style.
Dig the Dressy
Typically sammy. Typically awesome.
All the best in '08, mate!
