A Cold War Christmas
Comment:
Every family has their own strange customs when it comes to celebrating the holidays, whichever holidays you celebrate. For the Bartlett family, Christmas eve was a tense, fearful affair. After the first radio reports that a strange object had been sighted over the North Pole, the family would rush to the fallout shelter that Dad had buried in the yard (just to be safe) and resume our radio listening there. The shelter was decorated for Christmas all year round (turned out to be the only thing it was used for, until Skipper started sneaking girls over to the house). Before long we would be singing and laughing along, drinking nog and eating cookies, and the NORAD Commanders, ever vigilant, kept us all safe, but stopped short of blowing Santa out of the sky. Ensuring that Skipper would indeed get that new record player in the morning. Here's wishing all AotMer's out there a wonderful holiday season!
Feedback:
Can't wait to hear this...great concept!
This looks great, some fine gals on the mix, and one on the cover. Merry Christmas Skip, you've been a great addition to the site this year...
loverly!
lots of wonderfully festive songs here - happy holidays
Is that your sister? If so,you'd need an air raid shelter to keep the boys at bay. Great to see Peggy Lee and Julie London featuring on a mix. Did Danny Kaye do a xmas song? I think AOTM needs some special Kaye.
That picture reminds me of what I asked for, for Christmas. I hope its not wrapped....
I can't take my eyes of that cover, Skipper. That has got to be the most enticing mug of eggnog I've ever seen. Wish I could hear this mix piped into the shopping malls.
This looks just great - thanks!
A classy festive mix? This can't be true... but it is and it most certainly is Skip, Wonderful.
What a nice holiday gift.. makes me feel all warm & fuzzy. Or is that the nog (hic)?
Awesome Skip, this looks like a lot of fun, down to the pantiless chickadee ready to make baby boomers...
Had a spaced theme Christmas disc in the works. This trumps that. WONDERFUL stuff. Love the tracks, artwork, production....everything is incredible. Well done!!!!!
Brilliant
I was hoping someone would make a holiday mix. Being newly obsessed with this site/practice/obsession, I realize that it's inevitable. Although musicgnome mix is wonderful, I know I can play this mix for my girlfriend who loves Christmas Music. She'll love both, but this one will be put on all the time. Anything limit the amount of time listening to 94.9 (I assume you know what kind of music I'm talking about). I'm always trying to find great holiday music that isn't on the radio every hour.
Very classy, as Barrydali said. I will play this at my holiday party tomorrow night. Thanks!
lots of these are holiday staples at tornadoZ's house: Esquivel, Peggy Lee, Kay Starr, Dean Martin, Julie London, Nancy Wilson, Patti Page... wonderful stuff. it's put me right in the middle of the holiday mood - thanks. happy holidays, Skipper Bartlett.
i'd love a copy of this and...hmmm...how 'bout a tom collins in a tiki mug?
joatmon ! Perhaps you should come by the house on Christmas eve, and I'll have that tom collins ready for you !
i will endeavor to escape the shackles of family time in browntown to swing by. will greaseball be in attendance?
He's always around for free food & cocktails. Hope to see you, it's been a long time.
