My festive offering this year once again includes no Christmas songs. There is a simple reason for this. Should I ever attempt to make my perfect Christmas mix the tracklisting would be pretty much identical to this .

Instead I thought I'd put together a wintry mix, and I'm delighted with how it turned out. Actually the Mercury Rev track here could be my favourite xmas record. Subtly echoing `Silent Night', it reminds me of snowy Christmas' as a child - impressive, as I first heard the song as a 22 year old.

Anyway, the rest of the songs here provoke similar images. Some, such as tk 20, bring a tear to my eye, whilst others (4-5) send shivers down my spine..

So, a slightly different mix than usual, from myself. Although as most regulars on AotM know, I love a good pop song, and as such each track here oozes with melody.
