Comment:

My favorite tracks from my favorite albums and e.p.s of '07. It was actually a very good year--not many records that I would declare to be to-die-for classics, but a lot of albums that I liked very much. Title by James Murphy. [For the record, I want to give serious props to the track "A Song for George" by the Breakup Society, which many of you heard on a recent mix of mine; it's easily one of my absolute favorite songs of the year, but as it wasn't actually released on a favorite album of mine--although their new record, Nobody Likes a Winner, which does not feature that song, is quite fine and deserves your support/attention--it had to, by my long-ago self-imposed rules, fall by the wayside.)

I would have been disapointed if a VietNam track hadn't been on here. Also like the Caribou and Babyshambles tracks very much.

Oh you are a harsh task master Monsieur Conroy, I say to hell with rules!Much to like hereI need to check out: 5,10,12 & 17. Would rather boil my arse than listen to Radiohead though and remain contentedly ignorant of all things associated with Pete Docherty. Yup all in all a bloody good year.

Very different to my summary if I ever make it. Surprised Low made the grade as I was decidedly underwhelmed by that release. No doubting the Swift, Caribou, Sir Rich, and Nina & Jim though. Utterly listenable.

13 or so albums listed here would probably make my Top albums of the year list. I still haven't managed to check out VietNam, but I shall. I loved Comicopera by Wyatt, and the LCD Soundsystem was awesome. All in all a top notch review & mix.

quite a few of these would make my list, as well - namely the arctic monkeys, radiohead, babyshambles, TGTGTQ - though there's still plenty from 2007 i still need to check out, obviously. looks great, rob, wonderful year-end round up. i'm off to check out that breakup society now.

I've liked this year a lot in terms of new releases, and this mix is a fine reflection of that. I love a lot of tracks/artists here, but my '07 mix is gonna look quite different than this! I particularly like that 6-8 stretch.

I agree with you Rob. I found that there wasn't a lot of albums that jumped right out as great but there was quite a few that maybe I couldn't pick out a favorite song but continue to listen to the albums over and over again. I've heard most of this and really like a lot of it but probably only the VietNam will make my mix. But that just shows it's been a very good year overall.

Gonna be a couple weeks before I can do mine, but TGTB&TQ, Radiohead, Caribou, Low, Vietnam and the Arctic Monkeys will probably be represented (I have 63 2007 releases to whittle down, you guys are to blame ;-)

I keep wanting to like Babyshambles, really I do. Other than that, I like pretty much everything on this mix, Rob. Kick ass.

I think that, perhaps for the first time in all the years we've both been doing this, I don't have a single song/artist in common with you. (The closest I come is your lead-off band, which may or may not make the cut when I make the final track selection.) I'd love to hear some of this, as I'll be the first to admit that my exposure to new music becomes smaller and smaller with each passing year. Sure, it's easier than ever to discover new music, thanks to online sampling and sharing, but I also find myself growing lazier, and content to fill my collection with the artists I've been enjoying for years -- so my own mix (which I won't post until January, as I like to use these posts as guides for my last-minute holiday shopping) leans much more heavily on the Apples in Stereo, New Pornographers, Josh Ritter, Fountains of Wayne, etc.).

Very nice, Rob, thanks. Especially enjoyed the Babyshambles, VietNam, and Nina + Jim. Have a great 2008! -E/M
