you know, first of all, the concept for this mix is nber-smashing. 'tis the season after all for about 15 songs to get a stranglehold on all radio playlists, but i'm sure that Melt-Banana or Can, even when they're doing "White Christmas" or "Little Star of Bethlehem", still sound like they're beaming the music in from Quauar. then adding the Shaggs, Wesley Willis, Lydon, Residents, and what I suppose is the piece de resistance, James White & James Brown consecutively... it's all too beautiful (err... not in the literal sense i mean of course!).i guess the worst part of this whole christmas music bloc thing whenever december rolls around is those songs that try to make the attitude of "rock-n-roll" ridiculously and incomprehensibly *service* the attitude of, um, family togetherness spiked with doses of high-fructose consumerist propaganda or whatnot (like whatever that monstrously fucked-up song is called that has the sexy voice going "santa, baby, slither down my chimney tonight"...!?), instead of, of course, the other way around, like it should be. but it looks like this mix, *this mix* right here, is filled with walloping loads of real subversion, if you catch my drift. awesome job.(also, what twisted freaks came up with the artist names in 5 and 13, i'd like to know?? tell me, are these mostly noise bands like Melt-Banana and Merzbow, or what...!?)
