Comment:

In 1993, police in West Memphis, Arkansas charged three teenagers---alleged members of a satanic cult with the brutal murders of three 8-year-old boys. Despite any physical evidence--except the fact that they listened to heavy metal music--- they were tried and convicted. Search for their story on the net, check out the book Devil's Knot by Mara Leveritt

Love it! Have you heard the compilation of Black Flag covers put together by Henry Rollin to benefit the West Memphis 3? Some cool tracks on there too...

Thanks for sending me this disc, Captain, along with the other three! And now that I've actually heard the mix, I have to say that I stand by every word of my review posted below!

I've never heard that Eddie Vedder song before, but I like it a lot. And I love the songs from Metallica, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Joy Division, Manson, Nirvana, the Who and Black Sabbath.

On the other hand, I've never been much of a Sonic Youth fan. I tried getting into them in '92, and got a couple of their CD's (including Dirty), but ultimately I found their whole sound and attitude to be just a little too cacophonous and abrasive for my taste (and that's saying a lot). I also find Minor Threat to be too much of a minimalist blur for me to really get into. But those are my only two complaints, and they don't really hurt the overall flow of the disc.

I must say I've never heard Ralph Stanley's O Death before, but it really sends a chill up the spine, and it fits in really well with all the other heavyweights. I've never been much of a White Stripes fan before, but I've got to say their music is starting to grow on me, so I might actually check out one of their CD's someday.

All in all, I'd have to say that out of all four of the discs you've sent me, I really like this one the best! Rock on, Captain!

Track four could be the greatest song ever made.
