Comment:
Yea, though I walk/ride/fly/hitchhike through the valley of the shadow of Death, I will http://www.sendspace.com/file/ws6fv4">fear no evil...Some travelling songs, some Jesus songs, and some travelling Jesus songs. Title taken from the Screaming Blue Messiahs track.I previously used tracks 5 and 8 on a mixed genre disc for doowad, which sparked the idea for this mix. I never realized how often the themes of Jesus and travel (especially driving) were depicted together in popular music. Moreover, this seems to be a theme almost exclusive to American music, at least in my experience. Maybe that says something about the extent to which we as an American society have romanticized or elevated the concept of the automobile. Or maybe we've just Americanized the concept of Jesus.
Feedback:
One should recycle, what with the climate change and all... am I the only one that feels a serious change coming? Apparently not...Thus endeth the mystery of Jesus' last name... now, if we only knew what the "H" stood for...
Very nice; I love a lot of these songs, but never realized the connection. I'm sure a lot of people in America assume if Jesus were around, he'd be driving down old Route 66 in a Charger...
very clever & very cool - the kinks & johnny cash picks are my personal faves
Prine & Nacho Libre, holy crap! Looks like Gutbucket Gospel, part 2a. Somehow doowadette logged in here 'permanently' on my suegra's laptop (we're in Guadalajara), but I know she also loves that Prine and Nacho Libre is our favorite movie. In fact, her mom likes to ask me if I would join her in her quarters for some toast when she would like to, ahem, nevermind.
I'll be ready for Gutbucket 6, back to grungy, greasy grimey gopher guts when I get back on the 29th, if you're not too busy with the twins! íFeliz Navidad!

This is great. Special props for the Spacemen 3 track.
extremely cool! And thanks for the positive feedback.
This looks fantastic - especially the 18-close section. Downloading now, and am on it as soon as it comes through..
Lots of good picks...
I'm absolutely in love with this. This would have made a great travelling companion when I took a road trip from Chicago to Las Vegas. Between those two cities, there's nothing but sin, religion and a whole lot of open road.
hey, this looks pretty awesome. i still find the idea of a non-ironic song called "Jesus Is Just Alright" to be pretty fookin' hilarious. also, i remember that "you can't get to heaven on roller skates" song! didn't raffi do that??
this really looks amazing....love the johnny cash
Wow, you're on to something here. I found If Jesus Drove A Motor Home, Jesus Built My Hotrod, and Jesus in A Camper Van. I wonder how people would feel when they found out Jesus drives a sensible Japanese car. Great mix!
really good...
Excuse me, havent I commented on this yet? Must be early alzheimers. Its a gem, 18-23 is masterful.
Man, this is a awesome mix.
Halle-lu-YAH . . . wonderful stuff!
