Comment:
A look back at those in the music world who passed away in 2007We also said goodbye to Swedish Filmaker Ingmar Bergman, Country Music singer Chickie Williams, Actress Deborah Kerr, Daredevil Evel Knievel, Anna-Nicole Smith, Japanese Guitarist Kaneko Jutok ( thanks lo-fi ), Mime artist Marcel Marceau, Writer Norman Mailer & Mancunian Music Mogul Tony Wilson.
This is my last mix for 2007, I shall be back with new mixes in a month or so. I'll still be checking in every couple of days commenting on the great mixes out there and no doubt downloading many of them. All the best for 2008 y'all..

Feedback:
I knew you would do it, and I knew you would do it well. I thought about it when I heard about Ike. Cheers Sam this is a fine fine document. Love the inclusion at 10. That bloody Tevez... hopefully he'll be on next years mix ;)
a wonderfully inspired & fitting tribute, sammy - no one does it better than you
A fine, fine swan song for the year. Beautiful. Thanks!
I love the Porter, Hank & Ike, I'll be hoping to download this when I get back stateside.
Great tribute Sam. Happy holidays to you and yours.
very nicely done.
Nicely executed, er done. Nicely done, I mean. For more sammyg123 click here!
In all honesty, I mourn only Lee's passing but very well compiled mon ami.
Good research, Sam, and nice picks.
Rest in peace y'all, and thanks for the great music.
Rest in peace y'all, and thanks for the great music.
Thanks Sam, I'm sad I didn't get to see the ones I know here live, and happy to get to know others too late. Have a wonderful end of the year, bud.
I had forgotten that Frankie Laine had died, just as well he believes......my mother was sad to see Mr.Melly go as he is a relative of ours, so she says, and I must admit he does bear a resemblance to my uncle. This mix is dead on the money.
Nice collection & tribute.
Perfect sentiment, timing and execution. Yep, all hallmarks for sammyg. 5/5
(I didn't know Lucky Dube passed away.) Great mix. Happy holidays!
Going to miss quite a few of these. They've left something beyond time for us though...as have you, sammyg(123)!
Fin(e) tribute to the artists that left us in 2007 -- and a great way to end your excellent run of mixes you've shared with us this year. Looking forward to more in 2008. BTW, Both Ike and Frankie called San Diego home at the time of their deaths.
Respect. R.I.P. Karlheinz Stockhausen as well. Fantastic tribute, Sam.
Great but sad comp. Let's also remember Evel Knievel and one of my favorite damaged guitar gods, Kaneko Jutok.
This does look like a fine mix, good sir. Lots of sadness from this year. Enjoy your holidays.
Splendid SammyG.
I posted such a "remembrance" mix a year ago that is much eclipsed by the talent lost this year, and by the diversity of your selections. Bravo.
You do us proud, Sam. It's an honour and a pleasure merely to read one of your mixes. Another deft collection of musical legacies. And so the past bows out in fine style; and whither now? Until the next one, Sam...
nice tribute
Sam, I have to say that I'm starting to suspect that you personally fly around the globe, murdering these people one by one, just so you can put together the perfect end-of-the-year tribute mix. This has a wonderful flow, and it's a glorious final bow for musicians who have touched people with their lives and music, though some probably haven't been widely heard in years. the entire 3 to 11 bit is just incredible [my very favorite is the Evelyn Knight track] and I also really dug the Alice Coltrane and Luciano Pavarotti tracks. the only problem I can find is that someone always up and dies just after you post your mix. you know, like Oscar Peterson for example. but I guess you know what you're doing. and you're right: He'll make an excellent addition to next year's tribute mix. Wonderful stuff, Sam. Happy Holidays to you all!
