bello, i like this [Jul 2007]
Comment:
A few words about my 'process' -I download an average of 3 GB worth of music a month. . . from mp3 promotional blog sites to subscription based download services. i have numerous smart playlists that separates these downloads on a month-to-month basis. i listen to a track and, if i like it, rate it, or delete it.
when it comes to making a monthly mix, i limit myself to tracks that have been downloaded within one year of that month. within those tracks i try to shape, in music, what i experienced that month in my own life. i also take other stats, like bpm and the song's key to try to create a dramatic thru line, giving these seemingly random tracks some cohesive-ness.
i also utilize iTunes start and stop point functions so there isn't so much 'dead-air' between tracks. (apparently this isn't carried over in my zip files, i may start listing these times in a .doc file if it's something that people would/could use.)
some months come together easier than others.
this one took me a while.
july is rarely spent in North America.
Countries visited (in order):
Canada
USA
Macedonia
Bulgaria
Romania
Ireland
Ibiza
Malta
Canada
USA
Tunisia
France
Greece
july went by quickly, which means i was busy.
Highlights: Singing to the crowd in Montreal after many too many Patron shots, a long road trip between Bulgaria and Romania, seeing Arcade Fire in concert and having a pint of Guinness with Michael Stipe in Dublin, and after hours with the boys in Ibiza.
about the title: say it in an italian accent.
look out upon the myriad DOWNLOADJet Lag, my blog.
::MySpace Sloring::last-fm anyone?
Feedback:
3 gigs down to 75 megs? That is a 40 to 1 ratio. Thanks for boiling it down for us. Dig that Illinois track.
i appreciate the process.
this was obviously a process taken after with much precision & care - kudos to you - i love alot of these tracks
Great stuff, dig the Of Montreal, War and Amy Winehouse especially.
Despite the navel-gazing, this is a great mix. I'm looking forward to that middle run most of all.
I am listening to this mix and like it a lot. I am impressed that the Of Montreal track is not just their normal noodling. But I think what I love most about the mix is the gentle flow into the sweet soul at the core of the mix, exactly the kind of mix I like. Great job and I look forward to August...
this looks pretty awesome, dude. will be downloading this soon and checking it out.
