I don't remember August at all.I'm serious.In fact, there's a black shroud over most of my life during that month.In the dog days of summer, all you can do is focus on the task at hand, and live it fully.In August we sweat more, travel more, work longer, drink harder, and sleep very little. For being awake often, I'd thought I might remember more. . . just as it slips through my fingers again.I remember putting on a performance in Mykonos, and at the end, while straddling the wooden fence in the back of the DJ booth, sucking on a bottle of Jack Daniels, I fell face first into the dirt.I remember waking up with a liquor flavored aura hovering inches above my body, fully dressed, face down on the hotel comforter.I remember whistling along to bands at Virgin Fest in Baltimore and jumping up and down for the entirety of LCD Soundsystem's set.I recall a night (there was more than one) where all I wanted to do was crawl in bed or call my girlfriend or watch a Cubs game.There's a glimmer of a beach party somewhere in Greece where the beauty of the scenery gave such an energy to the music. . .And right when I thought I'd found something to hold on to, when I was soaking it in. . .
